This year for the Memory Project, AP and Advanced Art students created portraits for kids in Cameroon. The Memory Project is a nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create portraits for youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, and extreme poverty. A few weeks ago, we received word that the portraits were successfully delivered (video below). Thank you to the artists who participated: Sofia Aguirre, Julian Alonzo, Bryan Argueta-Heredia, Charlin Bravo, Iracema Cobian-Sanchez, Miranda Gonzalez, Ben Hermosillo, Edwin Iglesias, Amalia Juarez, Victoria Leanos, Moises Martinez, Daisy Martir, Juliza Molina, Ashley Perez, Sarai Rodriguez, and Ahitza Zepeda.

Endless gratitude to our donors: Yami Orihuela, Stephanie Kern, Ross Van den Akker, Kaye Gerron, Nicole Gerron, Lily Van Cleave, Gabriela Berkovich, Jonathan Hennon, Tyrrell Shaffner, Alexandra Cacciatore, Lou Diaz, Ruth Somera, Carrie Gillogly, Jeannette Hernandez, Jenna Heffernan, Maria Vargas, Angel Hernandez, Edna Tristan, Roberta Gonzalez, and Jazmin Chavez. Our student artists are: Natalie Aguirre, Sofia Aguirre, Alexandra Alcaraz Garcia, Jayde De La Torre, Sarina Canales, Diana Delgado, Samantha Gonzalez, Angel Hernández, Jimmy Mendoza, Juliza Molina, Kenny Olivares, Angelina Ortiz, Emily, Perez, Anthony Vargas, Erin Abeyta, Stephanie Aguayo, Destiny Alaniz, Christian Alvarez, Alexandra Arteaga, Emily Barbarena, Isabella Campos, Josselin, Castaneda, Neysa Estrada, Levannie Gonzalez, Georgia Jimenez, Giselle Jimenez, Ashley Lopez, Ari Magdaleno, Melissa Membreno, Leslie Ponce, Raylene Sabedra, Gabriel Saldana, and Andreal Villareal. Animation students animated these hand-drawn expression transitions frame by frame, utilizing some of the traditional animation principles originally developed by Disney animators.
Students in Digital Photography experimented with macro lenses and rings to get up close to their subjects. Here are the results!
Students in Digital Animation created these original characters. In designing their characters, they attempted to communicate the personalities of each character through shape and form. To show off their characters, they created these animated GIFS. Click 'Read More' below to see the full gallery.
This year, for the Memory Project, AP and Advanced Art created portraits for children in Pakistan! The Memory Project is dedicated to promoting intercultural awareness, friendship, and kindness between children around the world through the universal language of art. See a heartwarming video above, and all of the amazing portraits below.
A very special thank you to our donors who made it possible to send the portraits. We are so grateful for the generosity of: Sara Canales, Joshua Baltazar, Natalia Buenrostro, Melissa Gutierrez, Joseph Jimenez, Luis Hurtado, Miguel Romero, Yami Flores-Orihuelo, Yvette Bucio, Jason Saulog, Steve Francis, Jesus Magdaleno, Jean Chodos, Jenna Heffernan, and Tom Waldron. Students in Digital Photography focused on creating images that utilized SHUTTER SPEED. By controlling how long a camera opens to capture an image, students learned that the resulting photograph can be significantly changed. They attempted to completely freeze subjects, show motion with blur, and pan the camera with the subject to blur the background. Students in AP Studio Art & Advanced Art created these "Meet the Artist" illustrations to show who they are as artists. Animation students used physics simulation functions in Blender to create these quick animations.
